What will working with Hillpoint Scanning look like?

It’s a risk to try something new, like hiring a scanning company you haven’t worked with before, and you should have lots of questions. Here are a few points describing what you should expect with Hillpoint Scanning.

  • Emily has very strong values surrounding her work. She is a realist at heart, and if she is not the best fit for your project, she will be up front about why she may have to decline the job. A long-term relationship cannot be built on a poor first experience.

  • Every project is different, and there is NO one-size-fits-all price or plan. A discovery conversation or meeting is always needed before a quote can be provided, because each project plan will be built to your needs. This could be 3-5 minutes to a couple hours depending on the scale of the project.

  • While Emily is new to scanning, she has had amazing training from Leica and from her equipment dealer. She also has developed a diverse support network to draw on if needed.

  • Emily likes to laugh and have fun, so expect some levity in the conversation! Know that when it comes to the work, she is deliberately serious and genuinely invested in providing the best possible deliverable for your needs.

Who is Emily?

Emily grew up in Western New York in Chautauqua and Allegany counties. She graduated from Cornell University in 1997 with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, concentrating in Quantitative Genetics. This has been the basis for her improvement-based, numbers-based approach to work through each step of her journey.

Emily has worked for a variety of small businesses throughout her career from dairy farms to NASCAR offices, and wineries to manufacturing. A few things have been constant – her enjoyment of forming relationships, learning new things, and figuring out how to make a better outcome in a more efficient way. After all, in a small business environment where everyone has to wear multiple hats, one ALWAYS tries to get more done with less.

While working at a healthcare consulting company in Tennessee, Emily was introduced to Six Sigma philosophy. It completely made sense to her, and she approached every problem and challenge with those basic principles in mind from that point forward.

She started Hillpoint Scanning, LLC to leverage her drive for continuous improvement and building lasting relationships. The fact that she gets to geek out over equipment, numbers, and new sites are all great bonuses. But she also started the business to have more flexibility with her time. She LOVES riding bicycle in all it’s forms: gravel roads, hills, road racing, mountain biking, and the seriously silly subculture of cyclocross. She also loves helping with local 4-H groups and her family’s show cows at county fairs. Scanning work will be done on her customer’s schedules, and their client’s schedules. But the flexibility to put in the desk time around bike rides and 4-H meetings is a nice bonus, and building relationships by supporting customers extremely well is the road to get there.
